Built by Parents, Run by Educators
SunBurst Learning Center was founded in 2011 by Jessica and Marcus Rivera, parents who couldn't find the kind of childcare they wanted for their own children. They envisioned a place where play-based learning, genuine warmth, and high academic standards could coexist.
Today, SunBurst serves over 120 families across South Austin, with a team of 28 dedicated educators -- many of whom have been with us since the beginning. We're proud to hold NAEYC accreditation and a 4-star Texas Rising Star rating.
Our Educational Philosophy
We believe children learn best when they feel safe, loved, and excited to explore. Our curriculum draws from Reggio Emilia and Montessori approaches, emphasizing hands-on discovery, creative expression, and child-led inquiry.
Every classroom at SunBurst is designed as a 'third teacher' -- thoughtfully arranged with natural materials, age-appropriate challenges, and spaces for both active play and quiet reflection.
